A CHILDREN'S nursery facing closure after having its lease terminated has found a new home in a neighbouring village.

South Hills Nursery in Hindon which has used a mobile unit on the site of Hindon Primary School for more than ten years is closing in July.

The popular nursery which received a ‘good’ Ofsted rating in November recently signed a new five-year lease for the site but it was then changed by the school to a one-year lease before the school then issued the termination notice.

Parents of children set up a campaigning Facebook page to gain support for the nursery, saying it was run by “wonderful, enthusiastic and caring people”.

While a new home was not found in Hindon itself, the nursery will reopen ten minutes down the road at Semley Village Hall in September.

Nursery director John Proctor said: “We are very sorry to be leaving Hindon as the families and the wider community have been so supportive over the last seven years but regrettably our lease has been terminated.

"We hope the families requiring child care will be able to travel to the next village and enjoy the improved facilities that will be available.

"We will work closely with Semley Primary School which has an excellent reputation and people we have spoken to in the local community are delighted to see a nursery return to the village.”

Andy Procter from South Hills Nursery which also has sites in Wilton and Salisbury, added: "We had scoured the local community and area for a place to go and were close to giving up hope but then this one came through.

"We are very excited and looking forward to it - full credit to the manager Tracy Biggins who helped set it up."

The governors of Hindon School have not said why they decided to terminate the lease.

The nursery will open in Semley on September 4.
