A 37-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with threatening to kill a police officer.
Shafiq Rafiq, of Barnard Street, Salisbury, was arrested yesterday following reports to police made by a member of the public.
He was taken into custody at Melksham Police Station and later charged with making threats to kill a police officer, criminal damage to a police cell and disorderly conduct in a police station.
He appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court this morning and has been remanded in custody to appear at Salisbury Crown Court on July 5.
Police said the offences were not linked to terrorism.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "We must make it absolutely clear that this incident is not linked to terrorism in any way and we advise people not to speculate."
