A WOMAN who drove the wrong way down a one-way street after drinking with her boyfriend has been banned for 14 months.
Police spotted Karen Wallace in Brown Street, Salisbury, on October 8 at about 2.30am.
Wallace had visited Stonehenge with her boyfriend when the couple decided to stop in Salisbury for something to eat and a drink.
Defending, Jordan Williams told Salisbury Magistrates’ Court that Wallace’s boyfriend had agreed to drive home but he then started drinking and an argument took place.
“Ms Wallace left the licensed premises and returned to her car. She found her boyfriend laying next to the car feeling pretty unwell,” said Mr Williams.
Mr Williams added that there was an “unclear plan” but it was decided the couple wouldn’t drive back to Poole and instead Wallace decided to drive to a hostel.
Wallace admitted one count of driving while over the legal alcohol limit.
Magistrate Richard Mattick said: “It was a rash decision which unfortunately is going to cost you dearly.”
Wallace, of Broadstone, Dorset, was fined £291 with £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.
