A SALISBURY pub has been given a new lease of life following an investment £171,000 thanks to its owners.

The Horse and Groom, which has been owned by the national chain, Punch, for many years has now transformed the pub in Wilton Road.

The refurbishment has given a new look to the inside of the pub, with improved facilities and a wider food offer. The entrance has also been altered to allow for more seating in the bar area.

Taking over the running of the pub is experienced publican Liz Borradaile, who has more than 20 years in the industry and previously ran the Anchor and Hope in Winchester Street.

She said: “Punch has transformed the pub and created a beautiful venue for the local community. We have something for everyone including our four-legged friends who are also welcome into the bar area. We had a winning launch night and I’m looking forward to entertaining in our shiny new pub during the festive season and New Year celebrations.”

Since the refurbishment the pub has received positive feedback from pub regulars and those stopping to experience the new look.

"We opened up last Thursday and we had a lovely weekend, and the pub is looking absolutely gorgeous," added Liz.

The pub already has two darts teams in place and further entertainment is planned in the coming months.

Customers can now enjoy, breakfast, lunch, light bites, dinner and a Sunday carvery. Throughout the week there will be special offers and challenges, including the giant 32oz steak on the grill menu.

Commenting on the investment, publican development and training manager for Punch, Chris Payne, said: “The Horse and Groom is a traditional pub and offers a relaxed atmosphere for customers to enjoy a pint in peace or a night out with friends and family. Liz is full of enthusiasm and has a great line up planned for the festive season. Further improvements are scheduled for the pub in the new year when Liz will be updating the attractive beer garden so that customers can enjoy the outdoor space as the weather improves. I’m confident that Liz and her team will make the new-look Horse and Groom a great success.”
