A MAN was punched to the ground and kicked in a late-night assault in the city centre last weekend.
At about 2.45am on Sunday, November 26, a man in his early 20s was assaulted in Fish Row behind The Guildhall.
PC Alan Cromwell, from the Wiltshire South community policing team, said: "The victim was walking along the road when he was approached by a man he did not know, who started to speak to him, before assaulting him. He was punched to the ground and then kicked.
"The victim sustained swelling and bruising to his face and swelling to his right ankle.
"The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, tall and of a slim build, with short dark hair and spoke with a northern accent. He was with another man of a similar description.
"We are urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who saw this assault take place, to come forward and speak to us."
Anyone with information should contact PC Cromwell on 101. Alternatively, information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
