A HORSE has been injured in what appears to be a stabbing.

Wiltshire Police were called to a farm near Wilton at about 1pm yesterday, to reports that a horse had been injured.

Owner Lorraine Brown said in a Facebook post: "We believe it to be a knife/stab wound.

"It went through his heavy weight rug and a thin blanket into his shoulder."

Police believe the incident took place between 5pm on February 10 and 9am on February 11.

The offender is believed to have gained entry to a cattle barn and cut the horse on its shoulder with a blade.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
