THE family of a pedestrian who died after an incident on the A342 say his "sudden loss has struck many hearts with devastation".

Jason Plested, 30, of Woodstock Way, Surrey, died following an incident involving a silver Volkswagen Golf on the A342 northbound between Weyhill and Ludgershall, at around 9.10pm on Saturday (7 April).

His family have paid tribute to him and said: “Jason will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

“He was known as a benevolent son, father, brother, cousin, uncle and grandson.

“His sudden loss has struck many hearts with devastation. He made many of us laugh with his character and losing him is pain we can never comprehend.”

Police initially thought the 30-year-old had been struck by two vehicles.

But today say they no longer believe any other vehicles were involved and investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing.

PC Katherine Carr, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was travelling along that road between 9pm and 9.15pm that has dash cam footage of their journey.

“Even if you didn’t see the incident, you may have captured something on your camera which will help us with our investigation, so please get in touch.”
