SALISBURY and South Wiltshire Scouts launched their Campsite Quest during their St George’s Day Parade last Sunday.

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network members and their families braved the cold to conduct a parade to celebrate St George’s Day, followed by a fair.

The event also saw the official launch of the Campsite Quest, a fundraising drive by Salisbury and South Wiltshire Scouts to allow them to buy and establish a campsite, accessible to all Scouts in the local area.

Campsite Quest committee member Ian Hecks said: “We aim to raise £150,000 and find a piece of local land where we can set up a campsite for all of the local groups.”

“It’s a huge task, but it just makes sense that Scouts should be able to camp in the local area and we are going to make it happen,” added fellow committee member Dan Bavister.

The group says it has already raised £12,000.
