A WOMAN was left bruised after being bitten by a dog on Friday.

The woman, in her 20s, was walking along Carmelite Way just before 7pm, when she was bitten by a passing dog.

It did not pierce the skin but she was left with bruising under her knee.

Police are now looking for the dog and its owner.

The dog, which looked like a black and white collie cross, was being walked by a girl aged around 14 or 15 years old.

She is described as white, of skinny build, with shoulder-length blonde hair that was tied up and was wearing a black zipped hoodie, jeans and trainers.

She was walking with a young boy, aged around ten years old, who was also walking a dog.

PC Jeannette Brownsea said: "Luckily the victim wasn't badly hurt, but this could have easily been more serious, especially if it had been a child who had been bitten.

"We would urge anyone with information, including the girl who was walking the dog at the time, to contact us."
