A CAMPAIGN to restore and improve St Thomas's Church in Salisbury has received a welcome boost of more than £13,000.

The money was raised during its Spring into Summer Festival for the Quest 2020 appeal.

The event, which ran from May 30 to June 3, was a celebration of flowers, music and art.

The church launched the Quest 2020 earlier this year to raise £2m for the repair and restorations works to the church building, flooring and the Doom painting, as well as the purchase of movable seating.

Festival organiser John Bruce-Ball said: "It went very well. We had more than 3,000 visitors in all and they all seemed to leave the church with big smiles on their faces.

"They were very generous in their giving so the festival raised more than £13,000 for Quest 2020. That exceeded our expectations, we were very pleased."

The event featured a variety of flower displays as well as 150 works of arts on show and 11 musical recitals and two concerts, which Mr Bruce-Ball says were well attended.
