THE summer fair has given a welcome boost to Hyde Primary School.

More than £4,500 was raised for Hyde School Friends Association (HSFA) during the event, which took place on Friday on the Common.

There were plenty of activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy including a bouncy castle, facepainting, pony rides and football challenge as well as various stalls and vintage car rides.

Head teacher Julie Dalziell and music teacher Rob Dalziell manned the lucky dip stall.

The main event, The Auction of Promises, organised by parent Claire Isaacs, was a huge triumph with winners bidding on a wide range of prizes, from a day at Thruxton to babysitting.

The music and activities continued as the sun set on the wonderful day.

A HSFA spokesman said: “Thanks to all the children, parents, teachers and wider community who got involved to make it such a huge success.

“The success of the day and teamwork behind the event reflects the very special family feel and pride we all have in our lovely school."
