A SALISBURY family are supporting local police officers by collecting bottles of water and snacks and delivering them to Amesbury and Salisbury police stations.

The collections will then be distributed to officers working at the five cordons set up as a result of the latest Novichok incident.

Jenny Slade, Lauren Smart and their families decided that after this incident, as well as the previous nerve agent attack in March, they wanted to give something back to the police.

Jenny said: “The police are working hard and doing their best, it’s the least we can do.

“We’re just trying to support them as best we can, and we’d urge anyone else to donate. If you’re out shopping at the weekend, just pick up an extra bottle of water or some sealed snacks and get in contact with us. We do a trip a day to Amesbury and Salisbury police stations.”

So far, the campaign has gathered support from the local B&M and Co-op stores, but they are hoping it doesn’t end there: “The support has been excellent so far, but we’re still hoping it can grow further with some community spirit and other individuals follow suit”.
