A CAMPAIGNER for Best for Britain has set up an online page to raise money for those affected by the John Baker House evacuation.

With the page only being live a few days, £380 has already been raised between 19 donors.

Organiser of the page, Mia Lacey said: "We've had such good reception from John Baker House residents already so it's clearly helping a good cause", one comment on the JustGiving page reading: "Great cause. I used to live in JBH, now have a home to call my own."

Last Thursday morning residents of John Baker House were asked to leave the hostel, and are now being looked after by homeless charity, Alabaré, and Wiltshire Council.

Once the crowdfunding is complete the proceedings will be given to runners of the house, Sanctuary Group, for them to decide what the money should contribute towards.

Mia adds: "I suspect majority of the funds will get spent on day-to-day essentials, and of course making up for the possessions lost during the move.

"The more money the better!"
