ISN'T the alleged (humorous) remark by Cllr Matthew Dean being blown out of all proportion by council leader Jane Scott?
The real issue she has failed to mention is years of neglect of the Travellers' sites, which goes unchallenged, and those responsible are never called to account, resulting in the proposed sell-off and loss of this amenity, which was promised to the Travelling community at government level, in return for giving up their age old rights to use the droves, common land etc. and to protect them from future exploitation by site owners.
Perhaps, like the ridiculous re-siting of the tourist office to some Godforsaken position in a car park, should the council not think again about the Traveller site sell-off proposal?
Isn't that betrayal?
