THOUSANDS of pounds was raised for charities at the Goodworth Clatford Village Fete and Flower Show.

On Saturday, nearly 1,000 people descended on the village club and grounds for the annual event.

There was a variety of entertainment on offer such as a Punch and Judy show, children’s’ magic, a coconut shy and a particular favourite ‘grab a doughnut’.

Fun of the furry kind was also on display as dogs took part in a free-to-enter show to be in with a chance of being crowned winner of one of the four categories - dog with the waggiest tail, best child handler, dog that would most like a makeover and cutest puppy under 12 months.

Fete organiser Jane Drew said: “It went extremely well and we were very pleased with the turn out considering the weather and we had a variety of activities.”

And the event had an array of flowers, produce on display, with challenge cups presented by Test Valley mayor Councillor Ian Carr.

Among those who won was Warner Hall, who died in July, and was awarded with the The Max Barnikel Jubilee Cup, for the Goodworth Clatford resident who the parish council believe has contributed most to the life and wellbeing of the village.

Jane added: “He was the most amazing person. If there was something going on he would be there.”
