THE Ministry of Defence has announced that Major General James Swift, late of the Royal Welsh is to be the new General Officer Commanding Bulford based 3rd (United Kingdom) Division.
General Swift Commanded 20 Brigade in Germany from 2014-2016 and for their operational tour in Afghanistan where they were the last major unit deployed to the country. He was awarded the MBE in 2006 as a Company Commander in Iraq, and two years later the OBE for operations in Afghanistan.
Appointed Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Welsh in 2016 and his current appointment is Director of Army Strategy at the Ministry of Defence.
At Perham Down, Lt Col Mark Baker has succeeded Lt Col Dave Bickers as Commanding Officer of 22 Engineer Regiment and Lt Col W Turner has taken over command of 26 Engineer Regiment from Lt Col S Doyle.
