TWO new defibrillators have been placed in Wilton thanks to donations from the town council and residents.

With one defibrillator already placed in Wilton Market Square last year thanks to funds from the rotary club of Wilton, Wilton Community Centre and The Pavilion at Castle Meadow have become the next two locations for the life-saving devices.

As two busy and communal sites in Wilton, as well as Castle Meadow being home to a range of sport, the town deemed these two places best to situate the new machines.

A defibrillator is designed to help someone having a sudden cardiac arrest, and with the new additions in Wilton being easily accessible with instructions on how to be used, anyone can be helped in an emergency.

The community centre defibrillator was partly donated to by Cllr Trevor Batchelder as part of his mayor's appeal from 2016.

Additionally former town PC, Ian Pedliham, donated towards the community centre's defibrillator, as he felt it was a "worthwhile cause".

He added: "Defibrillators seem to be used effectively and you never know when you might need one."

The community centre fund towards the new device was finally topped up by Wilton Town Council, who funded the Castle Meadow defibrillator in full.

Wilton Mayor Counsellor, Peter Edge said: "Adding these [defibrillators] means that all bases in Wilton are covered, they're all in prominent spots so if they are unfortunately needed they are more than accessible."
