A MAN who died during an explosion at a factory just outside Salisbury has now been named.

Police have revealed the man's identity more than a month later.

Piotr Zukowski, aged 29 from Southampton, died during the blast at Chemring Countermeasures at High Post and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man was left in a serious condition.

Mr Zukowski's family was informed immediately after the incident, but delays in formal identification arose as they live overseas.

An ongoing investigation is currently being led by Wiltshire Police and the Health and Safety Executive, but it is not currently believed any criminal activity took place prior to the explosion.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the Chemring Plant on High Post Road, Netton, just after 5pm on August 10 following a report of an explosion at the site.

Six fire crews were in attendance, with two appliances from Salisbury, as well as appliances from Andover, Fordingbridge, Pewsey and Cranborne, supported by an incident command vehicle from Devizes.

A second man, aged 26, from Pewsey, was taken to Salisbury District Hospital in a serious condition.
