DRUG users in Salisbury are being urged to exercise caution after reports of fentanyl circulating in the county.

Fentanyl is a toxic opioid that mimics the effects of morphine in the human body, but with a much higher potency, and is usually found in gel, tablet or white powder form.

Effects of the drug can include skin rash, cardiac or respiratory problems, coughing, hypotension (low blood pressure), convulsions and hallucinations.

Detective Constable Robert Blake said: "We would always advise against taking any illegal drug, but following the discovery of a small amount of this substance we are urging local drug users to be extra cautious.

"The safety of the public is our number one priority."
