POLICE have confirmed that two patients taken ill in Salisbury on Sunday night were not exposed to "any kind of nerve agent".

Tests have confirmed that the two pair, a 42-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, who fell ill in Prezzo restaurant were not suffering from nerve agent exposure.

Police said scientific test were carried out to see if they had been exposed to Novichok or any other agent after events in the city since March.

As a result of the testing, police are not linking their illness to the recent poisonings in Salisbury and Amesbury

And a police spokesman said at this stage the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The man and woman were taken to Salisbury District Hospital after emergency services were called to the High Street restaurant at 6.45pm on Sunday, September 16.

Police have not confirmed their nationalities, after reports that they may have been Russian.

And Salisbury District Hospital said it could not release details of their condition due to patient confidentiality.

Enquiries into what caused the pair to become unwell are still ongoing.
