A NURSE was the victim of “mindless” vandals who shattered the back window of her car while she was at work.

Christine Lewendon was at Fordingbridge Hospital when the damaged occurred, and discovered what had happened at about 12.30pm on Sunday.

It is believed it was smashed by a ball bearing fired from a BB gun. A ball bearing was found near the vehicle.

Christine said: “It was just shattered, we managed to put some tape across it and got the car home.

“It makes me feel very angry.”

The damage happened some time after 7.30am when she arrived at work.

Christine said: “I would like them to explain to me why they did it and what pleasure they got out of it.”

She added: “It is a mindless thing to do. It is not just the impact of having the window smashed but the impact on your day-to-day life without the car.”

The incident, Christine says, has made her and colleagues worried about parking in the hospital.

“We’re all worried,” she added. “I’ve been there [Fordingbridge Hospital] for 19-and-a-half years, this is the first time any damage has been done.”

Christine says she is concerned someone could be injured, adding: “It’s a car this time but it could be a person next time.”

She said: “They would certainly get bad bruising and if it hit them in the eye it could cause more damage.”
