A WIDOW who had her purse stolen said she just does not care about the money taken from her, but she just wants a sentimental picture back.

Kathleen Lamb, 72, from South Ham, was withdrawing her pension from one of the cash points at Morrisons in Worting Road when she was targeted.

As she went to enter the store, a young man “nabbed” her purse and ran off.

“The purse had all my bank cards and driving licence in it,” Mrs Lamb said.

“But I don’t really care about that, what I want back is the picture of my late husband which was inside.”

Mrs Lamb’s husband Jim died in January this year and the 72-year-old carried a picture of him from their daughter’s wedding day around with her everywhere.

She added: “The cards and the money can be replaced, but I will never be able to replace that picture.

“It was one of the last pictures taken of him when he was still looking well, so it means a lot to me. I just want that picture back.”

Police reported the theft took place between 6.30am and 7am on Monday, 10 September, with enquires ongoing to find the thief.

Mrs Lamb said the incident had “knocked her for six” and that she no longer goes to Morrisons to withdraw her pension, a routine she had been doing for some time.

She added: “I keep replaying it over in my head and even though I didn’t see his face if I saw him again I would know it was him. I just hope someone can find him or knows who he is, so I can get back that picture of Jim.”

Mrs Lamb described the thief as aged in his teens, wearing a dark hoodie and dark trousers with the hood over his face.

Police are appealing to any witnesses to call 101 quoting 44180341873.
