THE 99th annual Tisbury Carnival was a success despite strong winds and heavy rain.

Carnival secretary Rachel St John said the event was well attended and enjoyed by all.

“Tisbury Swimming Pool excelled themselves with a Day of the Dead inspired float, alongside other entries such as Babe in the wood and Alice in Wonderland,” she said. “The beautiful royals were transported in vintage style in a Second World War lorry decorated in crocheted poppies handmade by the local Happy Hookers.

“The evening procession saw JNX Productions Music School take on the Greatest Showman and the Merely Tipplers perform a ‘Chicken Run’. The Maddy Cruxton Spirit of the Carnival Cup was awarded to Tisbury Brownies for their Suffragettes entry.

“This year marks the 99th Parade of Tisbury Carnival and already the committee and the community are looking to make their 100th parade the best one yet.”
