THE daughter of an inventor who created a satellite dish out of a dustbin lid has undertaken a hair-raising challenge in his memory.
Carina Jasper, daughter of Stanley Bacon, braved the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support on September 25 - to mark what would have been her dad’s 66th birthday - after he lost his battle with lung cancer in April 2010.
Carina was supported in her quest by sister Laura Bacon-Smith who gave her a grade two shave, but not before Laura Cutler from Pomade Hair Design cut the long locks which will be donated to the Little Princess Trust.
The family say the challenge has come at a difficult time, but they were able to lighten the mood with the shave which has so far raised more than £600 for Macmillan.
Following his invention in 1989 Stanley featured in the news worldwide, but the family say he will also be known to many as once owning Stan’s TV and Video in Weyhill.
Laura added: “He is an Andover legend.”
