OXJAM Salisbury will see six venues across the city filled with music and more this weekend.

The new festival takes place tomorrow (Saturday, October 6).

It features family entertainment from 10am at SP2 Café with the support of St Paul’s Church.

The charity festival continues towards the city centre with an Acoustic Afternoon at Deacons, where there will be a range of local artists.

The Avon Brewery on Castle Street will be hosting live music from the afternoon right through to the evening.

And The Winchester Gate will be introducing some more alternative bands to the city’s music scene.

The new community focussed hub @Home Salisbury on Bridge Street will have a range of entertainment throughout the day.

The festival will conclude at The Chapel nightclub.

Run entirely by volunteers, Oxjam Salisbury is part of the national network of Oxjam festivals.

Oxjam Salisbury organisers say: “There are two aspects to this festival, the local community and the global impact. To us, both are equally as important.

"We’ve been amazed by the local response and support so far, with our warm up events already raising over £1,000 to sustainably fight poverty and Inequality.

"The true spirit of Salisbury has been clear, with performers, venues and audiences all being equally supportive of the role we’re starting to play in the City’s entertainment scene, the more we can do for local people the better.

"This is what we’ve kept in mind throughout our planning, we’ve tried to choose our venues and entertainment that will bring all of what Salisbury has together into one day.”

The festival line-up is still being kept under wraps but organisers say "there will be some of the city’s favourite local bands, some up and coming artists and other brand new talent".

Tickets are on sale online, starting at just £5 and available at wegottickets.com/event/443748

A wristband ticket grants access to all venues, all day – a 17 hour day of music with a total of over 36 hours of choice.

As a family event, children under 11 go for free with any adult.
