POLICE chased burglars who made off in a car to Verwood after raiding a mobile phone shop before making off in an Audi.

Officers were called shortly after 3.35am on Friday, September 28 after a break-in at the EE store in Falkland Square, Poole.

A number of phones are believed to have been taken during the burglary.

When police arrived, they were told a car had left the scene. A little while later, an Audi estate failed to stop for the officers and it was followed from Poole to Verwood.

The NPAS helicopter and dog units joined a search of the area, but the suspects were not found.

The Audi was found abandoned at the junction of Moorlands Road and Edmondsham Road in Verwood. A number of mobile phones have been recovered.

Detective Constable Sara Freestone, of Bournemouth CID, said police will follow up a number of leads, including working through CCTV footage and carrying out forensics tests, to identify the suspects.

Anyone who was in Falkland Square or Edmondsham Road in the early hours of the morning and believes they saw something suspicious is asked to contact Dorset Police on 101 and quote reference number 55180157173.
