FROM archaeologists to mycologists a swarm of experts will be seen in the New Forest over the two weeks starting on Saturday as they lead a series of more than 80 guided walks as part of the National Park's annual festival.

Now in its fifth year, the New Forest Walking Festival helps residents and visitors alike to drill down into the stories behind the wildlife, history and culture of this ancient land.

Bookings have been strong, with walks covering the history and culture of the area proving particularly popular, said the Park.

Walks will cover topics including the ancient tradition of commoning, wild play for children, top tips for forest photography, coastal birdwatching and fascinating fungi facts.

New Forest National Park Authority Head of Recreation Management and Learning, Nigel Matthews, said: "There has never been such a range and depth of walks in our yearly festival of walking, meaning there really is something for everyone."
