TIDWORTH will be welcoming a new nursery and preschool to their town next year.

Delivered by Aspire Defence Capital Works on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MOD), the new Early Years nursery and pre-school in Salisbury Road is scheduled to be complete by autumn 2019, in time for around 1,300 military families to be relocated to Salisbury Plain Training Area.

Once opened the school will have a focus on developing a child's self-esteem and confidence, while taking advantage of the woodland on site through new activities and experiences.

Minimal work on the woodland will begin this month where the establishment will be built, including tree thinning and clearing.

A replanting scheme is also in progress to introduce new trees and hedging to the area, becoming a natural habitat for wildlife and a place children can explore and enjoy during their time at the school.

Mark Duddy, Army Basing Programme (ABP) programme director, said: “This new Early Years’ facility will be an important addition to the Tidworth community that will support local families, both military and civilian, in the area for many years to come.

"This facility is a great example of how we are investing in new infrastructure beyond the important military assets inside the wire, to enable the moves of single soldiers and military families to the Salisbury Plain Training Area in 2019.”
