A MAN was in hospital for several days after a "nasty" assault in Amesbury. 

The 25-year-old man lost consciousness, as well as suffering cuts and swelling to his face, and an injury to his knee and shoulder.

It took place on Kitchener Road at about 2.25am on Saturday, September 29.

The victim was approached by a man who assaulted him.

He was taken by ambulance to Salisbury District Hospital.

The victim’s friend, aged 18, was also punched but was not seriously injured.

The suspect is described as stocky with short brown hair and a short beard.

He was wearing a black T-shirt with writing on and dark jeans.

PC Josh Bliss said: “This was a nasty incident which left the victim in hospital for several days for treatment to his injuries.

“I’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw the incident, or anyone who may know who the suspect is – please get in touch.”
