SALISBURY Library is hosting a full day of events for children of all ages on Saturday, October 20. The day begins with local author Angela McAllister (10am, free), whose latest book brings the stories of Shakespeare alive for younger readers.

McAllister is followed by Duncan Beedie (11am, free), whose picture books have been shortlisted for both the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and the World Illustration Awards.

Peter Bunzl (12pm, £2), is the author of the Cogheart series of books, and will be running a special drawing and designing workshop.

Sophy Henn (2pm, free), is the author of Bad Nana, a new novel for young children. Sophy will be followed by the award-winning picture book author Ken Wilson-Max (3pm, free).

Completing the day of events, the children’s programme finishes with Pier Torday (Salisbury Playhouse, 6.15pm, £3). A previous winner of the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, Torday will be talking about his new novel The Lost Magician, a CS Lewis-style adventure set near Porton Down after the Second World War.
