THE 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War will be commemorated in Salisbury with a poppy display in and outside of the Guildhall.

The display will be part of 'Salisbury Remembers 2018', and local artist Charlotte Moreton has been commissioned by the city council to make three figures to represent the three military services.

A statement from the council has said: "We are asking all knitter and crocheters to donate a poppy to the project.

"You can download free patterns from the City Council’s website http://www.salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk/s/salisbury-remembers or call the Council on 01722 417100 and we can send you a copy.

"Last year over 10,000 poppies were created by the community, and we hope to get the same amount this year."

Submit your poppies to Salisbury City Council’s Information Centre in Fish Row, Salisbury Shopmobility in The Maltings or the Bemerton Heath Centre by Friday October, 19.

The council are also looking for volunteers to help with the assembling of the figures.
