ON A weather affected Sunday last matches were cancelled and turnouts were low on the events that took place.

Whatever happened to the old anglers who only had a Barbour jacket and wellies for protection but fished regardless of the elements, with todays technologically designed clothing and equipment ensuring almost warmth and dryness I would have thought participation would not have been affected.

Camrose AC went to Whitehouse Lake where Tony Holdsworth scored with 78lb 8oz of carp and bream on pole and pellet, Colin Thomas caught 49lb of bream on the method, Pat Finn also utilised the method feeder for his 36lb of bream whilst Jason (The Paste) Marcham put 32lb of carp in the sack on pole and pellet. Twelve fished and caught.

Staceys Match Group’s latest fixture was at New Barlows Lake and it was Staceys Supremo Keith Brown who scored yet again, with 52lb 14oz of mixed on pole and maggot, just short of top spot was Peter Stevens who caught 52lb 10oz of mixed again on pole and maggot, Andy (Hooverman) Wicks caught 26lb 12oz of carp on pole and pellet, Daniel Butler netted 21lb 14oz, whilst Matthew Butler blanked. Twelve fished.

Kennet Ospreys match at Billhook Lake saw Andy Leith score with 98lb 3oz of carp on pole and pellet, Dwayne Seed used a similar method for his even 75lb as did Steve Hunt for his 57lb 7oz, with the mixture of species now in this lake it made for an interesting match. Eight fished and caught.

Adventure AS sensibly cancelled their match at Willow Pool last Sunday due to dangerous bank conditions.

This coming Sunday Basingstoke Railway Club are at Whitehouse Lake, Adventure go to Ivy House Lake Swindon, Kennet Osprey will be fishing Court Farm, Camrose are yet to book a venue.

Catch me next week.
