A DRIVER spotted using the phone vowed to put the device in the boot 'from now on'.
The motorist was caught making a call to their mother by Dorset Police No Excuse team on Thursday.
They were issued with a ticket for six points and a £200 fine.
The team also dealt with a car passenger who was not wearing a seatbelt. It turned out the driver of the vehicle also didn't have any insurance.
A search also found cannabis and the passenger was fined £100 for not wearing a seatbelt and given a cannabis warning.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis, and later arrested for being unfit through drugs following a field impairment test.
The driver also only had a provisional licence and was driving a vehicle with a bald tyre.
They are due to appear in court next month after being charged with all offences.
