A FIFTEEN-year-old girl is in hospital after being stabbed on Halloween night. 

Police were called to Jaggard View in Amesbury at about 7.15pm.

A 15-year-old girl received "a small puncture wound" to her shoulder and was taken to Salisbury District Hospital.

Her condition is not believed to be life-threatening. 

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article.

He is currently in police custody in Melksham. 

Inspector Michael Standing said: "I know this is an incident which will understandably be causing great concern amongst the community in Amesbury.  

"I want to reassure you that this was an isolated incident and that we very quickly made an arrest.

"Given the ages of those involved I would urge people not to speculate on social media, but to leave us to continue with our investigation."

Amesbury residents took to social media to ask what was happening in Archers Gate.

Several posts posts shared the view that a girl had been stabbed near Jaggard View 9.30pm.
