A six-year-old boy was approached by a man when was waiting for a friend outside his home in Bulford yesterday shortly after 4pm.

The police received a call from a member of the public yesterday afternoon reporting the incident.

The man, who is said to have been driving a black Vauxhall Insignia, is reported to have asked the boy where he lived before asking him to get in his vehicle.

The boy ran off.

He was not injured during the incident but was very upset.

The man is described as black, with no hair. He was wearing a puffa jacket.

Officers attended the scene and carried out patrols of the area but were unable to locate a man matching the description.

Police would like to take this opportunity to urge parents to speak to their children about the importance of not talking to strangers.

For example, they should know their name, address and phone number, how to phone police, who will pick them up from school each day and what after school activities are planned.

If anyone has further information on this specific incident, please call 101 and quote log number 203 of 5 November.
