YOUNG people are encouraged to get their voices heard by standing in an election.

The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) is giving young people aged between 11 and 18 the opportunity to become a representative for their age group, and present the perspective of a young person to their area.

From crime to living conditions and the vote, young people will be able to share their views on various topics and raise concerns, giving the younger generation a platform to influence ideas and create change.

Wiltshire has three seats on UKYP, in Wiltshire East, Wiltshire North and Wiltshire West.

Laura Mayes, cabinet member for children, said: "We place great importance on the views of young people and I would encourage all 11-18 year olds with a passion to make a difference in Wiltshire to apply.”

The deadline for applications is Monday, November 26.
