NINE cows that went missing after a rural raid have been found on a Hampshire golf course two miles away.

The animals, which owner Dave Wooldridge refers to as his “babies”, went missing from his farm in Cadnam on November 14, following the theft of his prized motorbike.

The cows were found by a landowner just two miles from Wittensford Farm, on Bramshaw golf course trying to enter the field behind.

“They’re not just cattle, they’re pets. It’s devastating,” said the 66-year-old grandad.

“We brought them up as little babies, and they’re part of the family.

“I felt fantastic when I got the call.

“They have grazed knees and other bits and pieces but they are okay and running around again.

“It has been a nightmare.”

The cows are believed to have been set loose following a raid late at night in which a rare 1979 Honda Red Rocket motorcycle with modifications was stolen.

A new Husqvarna chainsaw, worth £1,500, was also taken.

The robbers are believed to have cut the metal gate off of its hinges and then hacked through a steel door to the barn, taking the bike and Husqvarna chainsaw.

Dave’s son, Jason Wooldridge said: “[It’s] a loved bike with a lot of memories and he was well known for the teddy bear on the handlebars which became his mascot.

“I’m willing to give a reward for any information in locating the bike.

The 66-year-old, from Lymington, told the Daily Echo he was so worried the thieves might return that he and his wife are camping at the site – as there is no house on the land.

Corrie Wooldridge added: “Dave was so upset – he cried and cried. He comes up here and talks to the cows when he’s working on the barn.”

The 66-year-old says this is the latest in a long line of thefts in the area, although the county’s police were unable to confirm this.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary was unable to provide a comment.
