INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after an "unprovoked attack" in Wilton.

Two men followed a 53-year-old local man into the public toilets behind The Greyhound Inn.

Police say once inside the toilets, the two men carried out an unprovoked attack on the victim using a metal object, causing head injuries which required hospital treatment.

The disorder continued outside of the toilets, towards the front of The Greyhound Inn.

The offenders then fled the scene on foot down an alleyway onto Greyhound Lane.

Since the incident, which happened on September 4, between 4pm and 4.15pm, officers have interviewed one man in relation to the incident and enquiries to identify a second suspect have been completed. Details of the assault were released to the public earlier today.

PC Jack Combellack said: “Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident was reported to us back in September and so far we have interviewed a 19-year-old man under caution in connection with the incident.

“We are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the assault, saw the two men running from the toilets, or anyone who was driving in the area who may have dash cam footage around the location to come forward and contact us.”

One of the men is described as white, approximately 6 ft tall, skinny, wearing shorts, t-shirt and a baseball cap.

The second man is described as white, approximately 6 ft 2 inches tall, with dark brown messy or curly hair.
