THE highly talented members of Bath Light Operatic Group made a triumphant return to the Main House stage at the Bath Theatre Royal on Tuesday (Nov 20).

Their latest production is the toe-tapping, feel-good musical, 42nd Street, on from Tuesday, November 20 to Saturday, November 24, at 7.30pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2.30pm.

BLOG were the winners of the coveted Best Musical Award at 2018’s prestigious Rosebowl Awards for their last Theatre Royal production, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Technically, they are an amateur company but they always bring a professional approach to all of their productions and 42nd Street is no exception.

Inspired by Busby Berkeley’s 1933 film, 42nd Street is known for its incredible tap-dancing numbers and features one great song after another, including We’re in the Money, Shuffle Off to Buffalo, Lullaby of Broadway and, of course, 42nd Street itself.

This production reunites the same team behind last year’s Rose Bowl award-winning success, as director and choreographer Vicki Klein and musical director Matthew Finch join forces with one of the most acclaimed amateur companies in the region.

Lizzie Andrews as Peggy Sawyer, David Baxter as Billy Lawlor, Helen Feierabend as Dorothy Brock and Geoff White as Julian Marsh are all excellent in the lead roles, while the BLOG chorus provides full-hearted support.

I thought the production sparkled as brightly as the lights on the set and the sequins on their costumes. The choreography was superb.
