THE chattering gaggle of South Wiltshire Ramblers recently came face to face with a small herd of Roe Deer. This is just one of the magical moments that we experience on Ramblers’ walks. They are not common but are moments to be treasured.
A similar close encounter involving a jackdaw occurred recently. The bird announced its presence initially by perching on a ladies' hat and as the group continued along the road it preceded them and established a bird roadblock. It obviously felt a handout of an edible nature was required and it was duly fed with raisins. When satisfied, it departed for a nearby branch to preen allowing the group to continue.
If you wish to experience such encounters of a natural kind you had better join the Ramblers.
