FORDINGBRIDGE firefighters have been recognised for their fundraising efforts for charity.

Watch manager Pete White and the Fordingbridge team of Steve White, firefighter Paul Dorrington and crew Manager Ross Freeman were presented with the Hampshire Fire Fighters Charity Award.

The award was in recognition of the various fundraising events the station organises including the Party in the Park music event, which this year raised more than £4,000 for The Firefighters Charity and Macmillan Cancer Support, and the annual 10K road race.

Pete said: “It was a great honour for the station to receive an award at this year's Celebrating Success to mark all the hard work of the members of the station and their families who join in to make all our events happen. We are also extremely grateful to the local community who support all our activities.”

The award was presented at the 13th annual Celebrating Success which was held at Hampshire Constabulary’s headquarters in Netley.

The Volunteer of the Year award went to Ringwood Fire Cadets.

Chief Fire Officer Neil Odin said: “This event provides us all with the opportunity to reflect upon the fantastic work of the service.

“I think it is so important to recognise and rejoice in our history and traditions, as well as celebrating the innovations and new ways of working that make us one of the most admired fire and rescue services.”
