A MAN has been jailed for 12 weeks after admitting drink driving in Tidworth.

Paul Kerti, aged 54, of Holly Road, Kettering, was stopped by officers driving a Citreon Berlingo on Pennings Road, Tidworth, at 12.30am on November 16.

Officers were suspicious of the manner in which the vehicle was being driven, and a breath test was carried out.

Kerti failed the test, producing a specimen reading of 88 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.

He appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court the same day and was jailed.

PC Kieran Leibrick said: “Kerti has numerous previous convictions for drink driving – he has clearly not learnt his lesson and the message that we are continuously reminding people of in relation to the dangers of drink driving is obviously not getting through to him.

“I therefore hope this prison sentence provides him with some time to take a long hard look at the downright irresponsible and ridiculous decisions he has made and the danger he is posing to himself and other road users and pedestrians.

“As well as the prison sentence, he has also been disqualified from driving for 52 months.”

Kerti was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £115.
