HISTORIAN and television broadcaster Dan Snow joined fans for a special event promoting his new book.

He was at Waterstones in Salisbury on Saturday to sign copies of On This Day in History.

Bookshop manager Chris Sartin said: “We were thrilled that so many came to our event with Dan Snow. Dozens came along to meet him, and one avid fan and his family had come all the way from Manchester. It was a real pleasure to have Dan visit our shop, he was lovely and brilliant with all our customers and a true gentleman to work with.”

The book takes readers through interesting and important moments of the last 3000 years from the most important British battle people have never heard of (May 20, 685) to the first meeting of John Lennon and Paul McCartney (July 6, 1957), the Great Beer Flood of 1815 and the day Jeanne de Clisson became a pirate and singlehandedly declared war on the King of France (August 2, 1343).

Snow has presented TV shows including Armada and Grand Canyon and Vikings. His books also include Battlefield Britain and The Battle of Waterloo.
