A LIFE-SAVING service transporting blood and other vital supplies to hospitals has been given a welcome boost.
A curry night at Everest Brasserie in Fisherton Street was held to support charity SERV Wessex.
The curry night raised more than £930 for the charity, which was boosted by a donation from the Downton Masons Lodge.
SERV Wessex volunteer Robert Smith said: “This year already we have covered over 117,000 miles on duty, 72 per cent of which was done by our volunteers using their own vehicles and covering all their own costs. The money we raised on the night will go towards running our small livered vehicle fleet and help us to expand the fleet to help ease the burden on our volunteers.”
He added: “They [Everest Brasserie] really looked after us and it was a really good night.”
