THE streets of Salisbury will be illuminated this evening (Thursday) as the lantern procession returns for 2018.

Wiltshire Creative, Salisbury BID and Alabaré have collaborated to bring this special event to the city once again.

The procession starts in the Cathedral Close at 6.15pm before making its way to the Market Square for about 7pm.

Alabaré, Salisbury’s local charity which supports homeless and vulnerable people, will lead the procession.

Workshops have been held at Salisbury Arts Centre to give people the opportunity to learn how to make traditional willow and tissue paper lanterns.

Alabaré has commissioned its own giant lanterns to join the procession and 32 glowing umbrellas.
