A DRIVER was arrested after a lorry became stuck under a railway bridge, blocking all railway lines between Salisbury and Romsey.
Romsey was brought to a standstill on Tuesday after a skip lorry owned by Ace Liftaway hit the bridge in Greatbridge Road shortly after noon.
The road was closed in both directions due to the collision and all railway lines between Salisbury and Romsey were blocked.
Now Hampshire police have confirmed that the driver of the lorry, a Southampton man, was arrested on suspicion of impairment.
A spokesperson for the force said: “The man, who is in his 30s, has been released under investigation.”
A spokesperson for ACE Liftaway said the company is helping the police with an ongoing investigation.
