FINDING yourself at a loss this weekend? Here are a few events taking place around Salisbury.

SATURDAY

  • The annual Christmas Tree Festival at St Thomas's Church is taking place and ends tomorrow (Sunday). Head down there and enjoy more than 100 entries with uniquely decorated trees.
  • If you're in the mood for Christmas carols, head along to Salisbury Cathedral at 5pm for BBC Wiltshire's life recording of 'Carols at the Cathedral', which will be transmitted on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day morning. Click here for more.
  • The Bemerton Players will be peforming family favourite Mother Goose at St Michael’s Community Centre in Salisbury. There will be performances at 2pm and 7pm, with information available from bemertonplayers.co.uk or 07940 592930.
  • Salisbury's annual panto opens tonight at the Playhouse! Enjoy Beauty and the Beast from today until January 13. Click here for tickets.
  • In the evening why not enjoy a local gig, and head along to see solo artist Hannah Reid at the Devizes Inn (at 8pm), or Funked Up at the Five Bells at 8.45pm.

SUNDAY

  • There will be two band performances taking place today at the same time - The Salisbury City Band of the Royal British Legion will hold its Christmas Concert at St Thomas's Church at 3pm (and it's another chance to visit the Christmas Tree Festival!) 
  • At the same time (3pm), the Wilton and District Band will hold its Christmas Concert in Wilton Community Centre in West Street. 

EXHIBITIONS

  •  Young Gallery Members’ Exhibition, Young Gallery, above Salisbury Library. Runs until December 8.
  • Salisbury Group of Artists’ Annual Winter Exhibition, Salisbury District Hospital. Runs until January 4.
  • Heart, Head & Hand - Winter Craft Exhibition, Salisbury Arts Centre. Runs until January 5.
  • Salisbury Group of Artists: Annual Winter Exhibition, Salisbury District Hospital. Runs from Saturday until January 4.
  • From Darkness to Light Illuminations, art installations on the Cathedral lawns, Cloisters and Spire Crossing. Runs until late January. Free.
