WILTON residents were “delighted” with their guided tour of the new Our Wilton veterans’ campus.

Visitors were shown around the site to view the nearly completed apartments and discuss design ideas for the cafe and training space.

The community are "looking forward" to being part of the development and has already began engaging with the site through volunteering, fundraising, and visiting the facilities.

Wiltshire councillor Pauline Church said the project is “innovative” and assures Our Wilton will be “extremely successful”.

She said: "This project provides a home and a base to enable veterans and service leavers to have a positive start and shift into civilian life.

“The local community will also benefit from this vibrant enterprise - local business start-ups will be encouraged and additional support will be available for existing small and medium size businesses in Wilton and wider South Wiltshire.”

Operations manager, Sue van Leest added: “It is really important for the whole community to see the cafe and training space as somewhere that is for them as well as our resident veterans.

"The project is about integration, and to achieve that we need local residents to feel involved and play a full part in this new community we are creating.”

The first phase of the project will be complete by spring 2019, followed by construction of the new enterprise hub.
