DANCE Six-0, Salisbury’s contemporary dance company for older performers, is looking for new members.

The company are inviting men and women aged over 60 years who would like to learn and perform contemporary dance to join them for a audition workshop with rehearsal director Rosalind Conlon on Thursday, January 17, at Salisbury Arts Centre, 10am-11.30am.

Meg Edgar, the chairwoman of Dance Six-0 says: “Becoming a company member doesn’t rely on having particular technical skill or specific dance experience - it is about the quality with which you engage in the movement. As a company we are excited by learning new techniques and working together to choreograph moves.”

The award-winning company have performed at nine different events since 2015 and worked with several internationally acclaimed choreographers, including Liz Aggiss, Charlotte Spencer, Abi Mortimer, and Antonia Grove. They have performed on stage and outdoors in site-specific works, including at Sadler’s Wells, Salisbury International Arts Festival, and The Point, Eastleigh.

The group meets weekly and schedule extra rehearsals and performances as opportunities arise.

Dance Six-0 also runs two open classes at Salisbury Arts Centre on Wednesday mornings, and a dementia friendly dance programme with local care homes, for people living with dementia supported by Wiltshire Community Foundation.

The company are keen to hear from regular class members as well as newcomers.
