CUBS and Scouts who took part in carol singing at care homes in the Devizes area found one resident was a font of scouting knowledge.
For Doug Smart, who now lives at Needham House in Devizes, was once group scout leader of 1st Calne Scouts.
Scott Coleman cub scout leader of 6th Devizes said: "He’s still very fond of Scouting and was full of advice for the Cubs and Scouts, as well as the leaders.
"Two special memories were of his entertaining the Cubs and Scouts, with some old fashioned scouting chants.
"He put on his Scouting hat, got them in a circle and soon had them all chanting with him. They loved it, as did he,
"His wife and fellow residents looked on, as they shared in the enjoyment of the evening."
Cubs and Scouts also visited Market Lavington Nursing Home and brought a festive spirit to the room.
The group is hoping to keep up its association with Mr Smart and the children are also hoping to help out a resident with dog walking as part of an achievement badge.
